Office space in Scarborough
Scarborough still prospers from the tourism trade, which continues to be a major part of the local economy. But today it is also proving itself as a successful general business location. Alongside beaches, attractions and hotels exists a modern commercial town, with several rental opportunities for businesses locating there.
Why choose offices in Scarborough?
While it may be known as a traditional seaside resort, Scarborough is moving with the times. The harbour has undergone major regeneration and new industries are moving in. So as well as a still-active fishing industry, there is, for example, a well-represented printing industry. Pindar, which also owns the Alphagraphics chain, is a Scarborough-born company with an international profile.
Creative industries have also played a vital role in the regeneration of Scarborough and were a major focus of the town’s winning entry in the 2008 Enterprising Britain competition. It won the title of Britain’s Most Enterprising Town and went on to win the Great Town Award in 2010, beating Chester and Cambridge.
Scarborough has proved itself further as a progressive town, by investing significantly in digital connectivity. The town has the UK’s first free Wi-Fi seafront and harbour area and one of Europe’s fastest internet connections. In recent years the town has run Digital Scarborough, an event that celebrates Scarborough’s digital activities via business networking, film showings and gigs.
On top of all this, Scarborough is extremely well connected to other major towns, cities and business hubs. It has four major roads – A64, A165, A170 and A171 – that link the town to places such as York, Leeds, Bridlington and Hull. And there are 25 main bus routes that link the town centre with its suburbs and local towns and cities.
Scarborough railway station is close to the town centre and runs services from York, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool on the North TransPennine route and from Hull on the Yorkshire Coast Line. In the summer, services also run from London.
