Why choose offices in Frome?
Frome has a long history as a nonconformist entrepreneurial town and today continues to present and attract independent, small and medium sized businesses.
Located in northeast Somerset, Commerce Park, an industrial estate on Frome’s northern edge, is seeing increasing numbers of small, footloose firms setting up and expanding there, alongside some national companies.
The town is currently and historically considered an economic centre for the surrounding area. It was a centre of the cloth trade before the Industrial Revolution and today there is a wide range of services available in the town.
A key advantage of locating in Frome is that, despite its many assets, commercial property prices are lower than neighbouring towns, and large numbers of people commute into the town to work there. Approximately one third of the town’s employees are commuters.
This is made possible by good transport links. Frome station is served by the Bristol to Weymouth line and has direct services to London Paddington. By road, the A632 from Warminster to Farrington Gurney passes through the town centre from north-west to south-east. In relation to other big business hubs, the town is approximately 13 miles south of Bath, 43 miles east of Taunton and 107 miles west of London.
Meanwhile Frome’s Conservation Area, with its narrow streets and historical buildings, gives the town a real character. Markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the town centre and the town provides a centre for cultural activities. The Frome Festival in July has put the town on the musical map, considered second only to the renowned Glastonbury festival.
