Office space in Dorking

From dinosaurs to objets d’art, Dorking has a whole load of reasons to make it your next office rental. Actor Sir Laurence Olivier was born in Dorking, and composer Ralph Vaughan Williams did much of his famous work here. So come on in to the Office Genie guide to this attractive Surrey town.

Why rent offices in Dorking?

Dorking is a long-established market town in Surrey, about 21 miles south of the centre of London. It’s well-known for its antique dealers and has three main trading streets and a small open-air shopping centre. Cycling has become important in the town since its inclusion in the cycling road race route during the 2012 London Olympics; now Dorking features in the annual FIA-ranked London-Surrey cycle classic event.

Business is taken seriously in the town. The Dorking & District Chamber of Commerce facilitates business networking events, exhibitions and seminars, and works with other relevant organisations, including the local district council and Town Forum. Other networking groups include Business Biscoti and the Dorking Business Breakfast Group.

Dorking is well-placed, with ready access to the M25 via junctions 7 and 8 – each seven miles away, or about 15 minutes’ drive. It’s also just 45 minutes by car to Heathrow Airport and 30 minutes to Gatwick; and 30 minutes by car to both the M23 to the east and the M3 to the West. Nearby towns include Guildford 12 miles to the west (a 30 minute drive), Croydon 17 miles to the north-east (45 minutes) and Crawley (half an hour’s drive away). You can get to Brighton on the south coast in about an hour.

Dorking railway station runs services by Southern Railways to London Victoria and South West Trains to London Waterloo, journey times of 50 minutes or so.

Dorking lies in a valley nestled between Box Hill and Leith Hill near the North Downs. A new species of dinosaur was discovered in clay pits to the south of the town, and the skeleton is on show at the Natural History Museum in London. One of the clay pits is now a nature reserve that’s open to visitors.
