Office space in Carlisle
Carlisle’s key position on the border between Scotland and England means it holds the crown as the most besieged place in the British Isles. But now it is a vibrant place for living and working, with great shopping, eating and culture – and a host of office space for rent to meet your business needs. Welcome to Office Genie’s guide to office space in the “great border city”.
Why rent offices in Carlisle?
Carlisle is the main cultural, commercial and industrial centre of north Cumbria, and is perfectly placed to link Scotland to the north with England to the south. It lies at one end of the M6, with journey times of two hours to Manchester and just over three hours to Birmingham, while the M74 will take you north to Glasgow in just an hour and three-quarters. A number of trunk roads serve the city, too, including the A69 to Newcastle and the A7 to Edinburgh.
The city is also a key station on the West Coast Main Line, offering rail travel to Glasgow in an hour and a quarter, to Manchester in a couple of hours, and London in just three and a half hours.
Carlisle’s historic role means its heritage is a big draw, with Roman history firmly on the menu thanks to nearby Hadrian’s Wall. There’s also the Carlisle Music Festival, a food fair and a number of award-winning microbreweries, thanks to Cumbria’s plentiful supply of spring water.
But Carlisle is still a city for business. Transport company Eddie Stobart has its headquarters here, and there are networking events organised by the Cumbria Business Growth Hub, such as the Carlisle Business Breakfast Club. There are even plans to develop Carlisle Lake District Airport, a few miles to the north-east, as an air freight distribution centre, with the aim of starting passenger flights to Dublin, Belfast and London.
