Why rent offices in Wandsworth?
Wandsworth is both a district in south-west London and the borough that contains it. The district of Wandsworth is an upmarket area of riverside apartments, bars and restaurants, connected to the north bank of the River Thames by Wandsworth Bridge. Further away from the river is Wandsworth Common, adjoined by streets of expensive townhouses. Much of Wandsworth has a village feel, although there is a redeveloped main shopping area with a large shopping centre, cinema and restaurant complex. The local Wandsworth Museum includes a Victorian art collection.
The London Borough of Wandsworth extends along the river from Vauxhall to Putney, and further out to the south to Tooting Bec and Wimbledon Common. Famous in the 1990s for setting local taxes at zero, the borough council is still known for its low rates of Council Tax. There’s a host of support for businesses, from the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, which organises the annual Wandsworth Business Awards, to Wandsworth Council's Economic Development Office, which runs events such as Wandsworth Enterprise Week.
Wandsworth is crossed by a number of major trunk roads. The A3 runs south-west out to the M25, a 30-minute journey by car, while the A24 runs to the south coast at Worthing and the A23 connects to the M23 in just under an hour for routes to Brighton. The main rail interchange is Clapham Junction, one of the busiest in Europe, with trains running frequently to Waterloo and Victoria in 10 minutes or less. Many services also run to Surrey and the south coast, including Southampton (an hour and 10 minutes) and Portsmouth (an hour and a half). Just one stop away from Clapham Junction is Wandsworth Town station, with local services to Weybridge (45 minutes), Richmond (12 minutes), Kingston (40 minutes) and Wimbledon (20 minutes).
There’s plenty of green space here. Aside from Wandsworth Common, there’s Battersea Park, Tooting Commons and parts of Putney Heath and Wimbledon Common. Cultural facilities include the well-regarded Battersea Arts Centre.
