But it is Doncaster that has the East Coast Main Line, with express intercity services between London and Edinburgh. Its strong transport connections have enabled Doncaster to develop a number of major distribution centres, including the Doncaster International Railport which dispatches goods from the North to Europe by rail.
South Yorkshire is also home to the Local Federation of Small Businesses and the county runs the annual South Yorkshire Business Awards to recognise and reward business excellence in the region. Local businesses can also get involved in projects such as the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership, which works with businesses to meet their corporate social responsibilities. The Partnership has been the driving force behind the development of a local timber industry in the area.
