Office space in SE7
Are you looking to rent your next office in a part of London just by the River Thames and a stone’s throw from Canary Wharf, but with a more tranquil, residential feel? Then SE7 could be just right for you. Take the plunge into the Office Genie guide to one of south-east London’s hidden gems to find the ideal office for rent.
Why rent offices in SE7?
SE7 is the London postal district that largely covers residential Charlton. It’s part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and you’ll find it located between Greenwich to the west and Woolwich to the east. SE7’s biggest claim to fame is probably the Thames Barrier, which lies just off the area’s north-eastern tip. But there’s also Charlton House, the best-preserved Jacobean building in London. Charlton House is home to what is believed to be the country’s oldest mulberry tree, planted in 1608 to help cultivate silkworms.
Sainsbury’s is a big employer in the area, with a large distribution centre in New Charlton at the north of SE7, and a new superstore under construction. New Charlton is home to the area’s main modern shopping centres, while Charlton Village is more picturesque with small, independent shops. There’s plenty of green space, parks and sports fields, and there’s even an animal park. Gilbert’s Pit Site of Special Scientific Interest was a former sand extraction sit and is now a local nature reserve.
SE7 is also well-connected. The A206 runs through the north of Charlton, with the A207 to the south. To the west is the southern approach of the Blackwall Tunnel, while the South Circular Road lies further to the east. The M11 is 20 minutes away to the north-east, while the A2 runs out to the M25 15 minutes away by car.
There are six to eight trains an hour from Charlton railway station via Greenwich to London Bridge (under 20 minutes minutes) or Cannon Street (25 minutes). North Greenwich on the Jubilee Line is the nearest London Underground station, a few minutes away near the river Thames by the nearby O2 Centre.
In terms of business support, the local authority of Greenwich offers professional business advice on topics including start-ups, business growth, tendering for contracts and recruitment. SE7 falls under the South East London Chamber of Commerce. The area is also known as the home of Championship League football club Charlton Athletic, and the club offers a range of business hospitality and promotional packages.
