From glorious Scottish countryside to the hustle and bustle of the big city, there’s everything you could need from your office rental in Lanarkshire. If you need any more persuading, let us help, with the Office Genie guide to offices for rent in this rich and varied region.
Why rent offices in Lanarkshire?
Historically a county in the central Lowlands of Scotland, Lanarkshire today is made up of two separate Scottish council areas – South Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire. Which one you choose for your office rental will depend on how close you want to be to the hustle and bustle of the big city – in this case, Glasgow.
There’s something for everyone in this varied region. There’s beautiful scenery for walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts, while town centres range from small market towns with buildings of historic interest to modern centres with a full range of shops and services. Two of the five UNESCO world heritage sites in Scotland are located in Lanarkshire – New Lanark and the Antonine Wall.
North Lanarkshire is your bet for urban proximity. It’s the fourth largest Scottish local authority and sits mid-way between Edinburgh and Glasgow, but also contains much of Glasgow’s suburbs and commuter towns. South Lanarkshire, in contrast, takes in more rural and upland areas, and includes market towns such as Lanark, Strathaven and Carluke. The largest urban area is East Kilbride – Scotland’s first new town, which lies about 10 miles south of Glasgow.
Transport connections are excellent. The M74 runs through the centre north-south giving access to the M6 in the south for Carlisle, Warrington and Birmingham. The M8 and M80 serve Glasgow to the north, connecting to Edinburgh and the east coast and Highlands. Rail connections from Glasgow allow you to reach Edinburgh in a little over an hour, Manchester in less than three and a half hours and London in four and a half hours.
There are quite a few business-focused organisations and events here. North and South Lanarkshire councils and local businesses back the long-established Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards. Business Gateway Lanarkshire works to support individuals and businesses across both council areas with advice, events and market intelligence. The Lanarkshire Business Group is a networking group that helps small businesses generate more business, while South Lanarkshire Council offers Business Support Grants to help grow businesses and jobs.
